Curves for Women

Apr 1, 04:57 AM in

“Curves for Women” are small, franchised fitness centers with hydraulic resistance machines that are arrayed in a circuit where you move from machine to machine on a time interval. There are 8 pieces of equipment in the circuit that target specific body parts.

There is a squat machine, an abdominal machine, a leg extension machine, a shoulder press machine, a back machine, a leg press machine, an abductor machine and a biceps machine. The circuit moves you from station to station and is directed by music and taped instruction. You are meant to go at a quick pace to keep your heart rate up. The goal for most women is to workout at 60% of their maximum heart rate, which is determined by taking your pulse regularly on the circuit.

Curves’ hours of operation vary by location and are more restrictive than most health clubs. There is a $49 one-time service fee to join and it is $29/month for a year. Many franchises require a one-year minimum. If the month to month option is available, the cost is $39. You are supposed to be able to use any Curves for Women center location, but that is not always the case....

What Are Drugs Used to Treat Excess Weight

Mar 29, 10:37 PM in

A thorough account of the medications used for weight loss.

Drugs used for weight loss are generally called anorexiants. All the drugs are potentially effective when used appropriately and with additional weight loss measures, including exercise and behavioral modification.

The long-term effects of most of these medications have not been established. Most lose their effectiveness over time, thus requiring increased dosage, and they can be addictive and dangerous. None of these drugs deals with the underlying problems that may be causing obesity.

Unless specifically instructed by a doctor, people should use non-drug methods for losing weight. Except under rare circumstances, pregnant or nursing women should never take diet medications of any sort, including herbal and over-the-counter remedies.

8 Minutes in the Morning

Mar 29, 10:35 PM in

The rationale behind promoting quick and easy weight loss and fitness is to sell a product and make money. Fit, healthy people with “beautifully sculpted” bodies simply do not get that way from 8 minutes of effort per day.

The testimonials of “ripped” body builders and “athletes” that sell their image as easy is clearly disingenuous. What this does is give the average, suffering overweight person no sense of reality and what it is going to take to succeed at healthy, long-term weight loss.

The first step that all overweight people have to take is to be honest with themselves. You need to accept the fact the road ahead will be difficult. By doing this you lay the foundation to build the type of inner strength you will need to persevere and succeed.

The marketing of programs such as “ 8 Minutes in the Morning” by Jorge Cruise are not realistic for the average person with a high body mass index. A more comprehensive plan is needed to change your behaviour, eating habits and exercise patterns.
